Mitchell Avocet RZ FS Reels is from a name which needs no introduction to older anglers. And a solid free-spool reel nowadays doesn’t have to be expensive… this model from Mitchell is a prime example.
Available in 5500 and 6500 FS sizes, these reels will cover everything from Method feeder to light specimen fishing for tench, carp and barbel.
They use 5+1 bearings, and have a 5.1:1 gear ratio, coming with an aluminium spool holding 240 m or 320 m respectively of 0.30 mm line.
Other features include a front drag and decent-sized, soft touch handle knob. A pair of decent free-spools for under £80, that’s not bad!
