Altra teams up with And Wander on a sophisticated, stylish and practical trail shoe
And Wander's Altra Timp brings a futuristic vibe and Japanese design cool to a lightweight, BOA-fastened hiking shoe
Outdoor sports shoe specialist Altra and cool Japanese hiking brand And Wander have teamed up to produce a sophisticate and stylish hiking shoe with a BOA lacing system that oozes a sleek futuristic vibe.
It certainly looks striking, but it’s also a practical shoe that doesn’t care if you ruin its looks by scuffing it on the trails, and is equally at home in the urban jungle.
If it appeals to you, you’re going to have to wait a while to get your feet into a pair – the And Wander Altra Timp is being prepped for a Spring / Summer 2025 release.

The shoe is based on the existing Altra Timp, already a popular trail running shoe. and wander have already worked on Salomon and Adidas Terrex makeovers and now they’re working their magic on the Timp.
The most striking feature is the BOA lacing system, which allows you to adjust the laces via a dial on the shoe's sidewall. But it also boasts a futuristic charcoal palette, a lightweight mesh upper, a seriously knobbly Vibram Megagrip outsole, reflective details, and in-your-face branding.
If you’re unfamiliar with And Wander, it's a Japanese brand that was founded in 2011 by Keita Ikeuchi and Mihoko Mori, two designers who collaborated at Issey Miyake. They are so serious about their outdoor cred that they even organize regular hiking trips in their home country, via their website.
The two founders' great desire to create "fashion in the nature / mountains just as enjoyable" gave rise to this business.
